Denmark is the land of Vikings and hygge: immerse yourself in history, enjoy the coziness and discover a world of active adventures! It’s not for nothing that Denmark is called the green pearl of Scandinavia; this country is perfect for a family holiday with children.

Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark. It is the most popular city not only in Denmark, but throughout Scandinavia. According to Monocle magazine in 2013, it was recognized as the best city to live. Founded in 1167 on two islands, Zealand and Amager, the city soon became a major trading port. Thanks to its favorable location, it quickly grew and developed. Today Copenhagen is one of the largest cities in Scandinavia with a population of about 1.8 million people. Combining the splendor of royal palaces, the most interesting sights and the opportunities and entertainment of a modern city, the capital of Denmark will not leave anyone indifferent. There is something for everyone here – walks along the pedestrian streets of the city, first-class shopping, hundreds of world-class cafes and restaurants, in addition, museums, theaters, concert venues and art galleries.

Arriving in his city, you cannot pass by the famous sculpture of the Little Mermaid, which is located on a stone on the Langelinie pier. This monument appeared in the port of Copenhagen more than 100 years ago and has become not only a famous tourist attraction, but also a symbol of the city. The monument was made by order of the son of the founder of the Carlsberg brewery, who was fascinated by the ballet based on the fairy tale The Little Mermaid at the Royal Theater, and the leading actress, Helen Price.

Visit Amalienborg, the residence of the Danish Queen and Prince Consort, which is located in Copenhagen. This is an entire architectural ensemble of residences in the Rococo style, located in such a way that an octagonal square is formed in the center of the ensemble, which has no equal sides. In the middle of the palace square stands a monument to Frederick V. In the palace you can visit museums and the chambers of the queen’s ancestors. Very close to the palace is Rosenborg Castle, where you can see installations of royal interiors over several centuries, as well as Danish royal regalia.

In Copenhagen and other regions of Denmark, we can organize excursions for you in Russian. We recommend the Castles of North Zealand excursion as it is the most popular. This excursion will allow you to visit three castles – the majestic Kronborg, Fredensborg, where the Danish royal family holds all the most significant receptions and events, and the luxurious Frederiksborg. The gardens surrounding the castles also deserve your attention.

Don’t forget that Copenhagen is the coziest city in Europe. Ride around it on a bicycle, the most popular and convenient means of transport, and feel like a real Dane. Bicycle paths and special bridges over connections in almost all areas of the city. Or take a boat trip along the canals of Copenhagen and fall in love with the city with water.

Visit Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest and oldest city. Founded back in Viking times, it bears traces of ancient times. Here are collected ancient buildings transported here from all over the country. There are real old stables and workshops here. The Aarhus Museum of Art is also worth a visit, with installations reflecting Dante’s Divine Comedy and Oluafur Eliason’s Rainbow Panorama installation on the roof.

Roskilde – located on the island. Zealand, 35 km from Copenhagen. This city, also built during Viking times, attracts a large number of tourists with its historical heritage. The Viking Ship Museum, with its shipyard and ethnographic village, is very popular. Here you can see the world’s longest galley, 37 meters high, designed for more than 70 oarsmen, and take a ride on Viking boats along the small Roskilde fjord.
