A sightseeing tour of Copenhagen is a great way to explore the history, culture, and attractions of this beautiful Danish city.

On this excursion, you will see the Town Hall, which serves as the meeting place of the Municipal Council and the city administration.

You will also visit Andersen’s Castle, a miniature castle with turrets, a fortress wall, fountains, and red walls, inhabited by characters from the works of storyteller Hans Christian Andersen. The tour includes a stop at the monument to H.C. Andersen, the Dragon Fountain, and Tivoli Park, one of the oldest amusement parks and the third most visited in Europe.

As you explore, you will come across the “zero mark” pillar and Strøget, the longest pedestrian street in Europe. The route passes through:

  • Old Square and the Caritas Fountain;
  • the oldest city market;
  • New Square and the City Court building;
  • the Prison House and the former place of executions;
  • the Latin Quarter, where you will see the University, the University Library, and the Church of Saint Petri.

Other highlights include:

  • the residence of bishops;
  • the Reformation monument;
  • Crystal Street;
  • the Round Tower;
  • the Postal and Telegraph Museum.

You will also visit the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Church of St. Nicholas, a brick church with a high bell tower that is visible from many parts of the city.

The tour continues to Old Beach, offering a view of the Thorvaldsen Museum and Christiansborg, home to the Danish Parliament. You will also see Royal Square and the famous Nyhavn Canal, which stretches from the New Royal Square to the quay front-port south of the Theater House.

Along the canal, you will find many colorful townhouses from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as numerous bars, cafés, and restaurants. However, please note that this tour of Copenhagen’s old center does not include a visit to the Little Mermaid sculpture.
