Roskilde is one of the oldest Danish cities, located 30 km west of Copenhagen. The name of the city is associated with numerous healing springs, many of which are still active today.
The ancient capital of the Danes is majestically located on a high hill, from where a picturesque view of the fjord opens. The city also has many museums, including the Viking Museum, where you can learn about the life and culture of the Vikings.
Roskilde is a place associated with the legendary history of the Vikings. Right on the shore is the Viking Hallen Museum – five ships from the Viking Age, raised from the bottom of the Roskilde Fjord, are kept here. The decoration of Roskilde is undoubtedly the Cathedral – the burial place of Danish monarchs. The Cathedral in Roskilde is the main religious building in all of Denmark. It is the most striking example of the architectural style of brick Gothic and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995.
