Frederiksborg Castle has a unique architecture and is one of the few castles in Europe that has retained its original appearance. Frederiksborg Castle, located in the town of Hillerod, is now known as the Museum of National History.

The first castle on the site of Frederiksborg was founded in 1560 by King Frederik II and was named Hillerodsholm after the town nearby. The palace is located on three small islands in the middle of Lake Slotsy (literally – Palace Lake). To get to the castle, you must first walk past an English-style park, then a French-style park, and then past the clipped monograms of the current Queen Margrethe II.
