Arctic Journey

This tour is your chance to experience a completely new 14-day expedition cruise to Greenland. On board Le Lyrial, you will follow the route of the Vikings, the first Europeans to discover eastern Greenland as far as Nuuk, in the footsteps of Erik the Red. You will also enjoy a combination of adventure and discovery in the company of an experienced team of naturalist guides, anthropologists, ornithologists and marine mammal specialists.

    REYKJAVIK

    Iceland's capital is located on a vast bay in the west of the country. Perlan, the "Pearl of Reykjavik", is a museum located on Öskjuhlíð hill, offering panoramic views of the lush green landscape.

    SHÖLDUNGEN

    Discover Skjoldungen Island on the southeast coast of Greenland. This uninhabited land boasts magnificent scenery. The island is surrounded by a stunning fjord. Mountains, glacial valleys, rocky outcrops, tundra and willow forests make up a beautiful landscape that you can admire up close when you stop here. In this port of call, surrounded by wild and untouched nature, bearded seals, orcas and various species of birds are quite common.

    AAPPILATTOK

    Aappilattoq is a small Inuit village of about 100 people. Situated in a mountainous region inaccessible by road, its picturesque, colorful houses stretch to southern Greenland, on the shores of picturesque Prince Christian Bay.

    Hvalsø

    Around you lies a grassy meadow filled with flowers, dotted with impressive granite cliffs. You are in Hvalsø, in the heart of the fertile lands of southern Greenland. In the 10th century, this place was colonized by Vikings, who founded a large community here. As your ship enters this land filled with history, you will see the ruins of a church, the remains of which are still very well preserved.

    NARSAQ FJORD

    From your ship, discover the town of Narsaq. You will be amazed by the beauty of the surrounding icebergs. This small town, dominated by lush mountains, is typical of Greenland and is located in the heart of a wonderful natural landscape. The colorful facades of the houses and the glaciers with their countless shades of blue create a magical setting.

    IKKA-FJORD

    As you sail through the majestic Ikka Fjord in southwest Greenland, you will discover an underwater world with over 10,000 years of geology as mysterious pillars up to 20 metres high, formed thousands of years ago, rise from the seabed.

    NUUK

    When Eric Le Rouge, an exiled Norwegian chieftain, landed on the coast of Nuuk, he found a fertile and hospitable land dotted with fjords. He settled there with a group of his former countrymen, and the Norwegians remained the main inhabitants until, over the course of 500 years, their population dwindled and gave way to the Inuit.

    SISIMUT

    During your cruise, we invite you to discover Sisimiut, founded in 1756 and the second largest town in Greenland. This small town, typical of Greenland, boasts stunning views: here and there, colourful houses on stilts dot the hilly landscape, and the small fishing port serves as a gateway to the icy kingdom. As for the town centre, there are a number of historical buildings, a small church and a museum dedicated to the history of the Inuit, as well as many handicraft shops. When your ship drops anchor here, you will set off to meet the locals in a typically Arctic setting.

    PAUL-EMILE VICTOR BASE CAMP, EKI GLACIER

    "The most beautiful place in the Arctic" - this is how Paul-Émile Victor described Greenland, a land of huge icebergs and towering ice formations formed by the giant glaciers of the polar cap. Eki Glacier is one of the most impressive sights. Here the silence is broken only by the roar and cracking of the ice.

    DISCO BAY

    East of Baffin Bay you will find Disko Bay, dotted with countless icebergs formed in the Ilulissat Ice Fjord. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this place is a natural wonder of Greenland and is also known as a spot for watching humpback whales.

    The city is the starting point for magnificent discoveries in untouched nature. After all, just a few dozen kilometers away you can get to the Greenland Ice Sheet. From Kangerlussuaq you can also admire the magnificent landscapes of the tundra.
