  • visit to the open-air museum Old Bergen. Museum tour with a visit to the cottages.

In the 1800s, Bergen was Europe’s largest wooden city, a distinctive urban environment with closely spaced wooden buildings, lively streets, markets and alleys.

Old Bergen. The museum consists of over 40 wooden houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, which together represent a “town within a city”. Here you will find a bakery, a pharmacy, a sailor’s house, a party house, a school and much more from the past. You can look through windows, open doors and explore exhibitions and historic interiors.

The museum staff help bring history to life and answer some questions about what life in Bergen might have been like a hundred or two hundred years ago. Visitors to the museum will get an impression of life in the past.

The museum is open every day from 15.05.-31.08.
