Walking tours are a great way to see not only the main attractions, but also get to know the culture and customs of the local people. Your introduction to Oslo will begin from the City Hall, where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded.
During the tour you will see: the main street Karl Johans Gate, where the Royal Palace, the National Theater, the University and much more are located, which confirms that you are in the Capital of Norway.
The tour will end at the Opera and Ballet Theater. The opera house is part of Oslo’s regeneration strategy to transform the city’s historically industrial waterfront into a vibrant public space, and was the first building to be built in the Bjørvika area. It is built on stilts in the Oslo Fjord, adjacent to reclaimed land that is expanding Oslo Harbour, returning much of the city’s waterfront to the public.
The Nobel Peace Center is the Nobel Peace Prize museum located on Town Hall Square, right in the center of Oslo. With a tour of the Nobel Peace Center, you can discover the ideas and work of Peace Prize laureates.
Explore the museum’s interactive exhibits on Alfred Nobel, award winners, and the organization’s history. The Nobel Peace Center has also been recognized for its commitment to documentary photography and has become an important arena for public debate and negotiation on peace, human rights and conflict resolution. The Nobel Peace Center houses several permanent exhibitions, the Nobel Garden, Peace Prize laureates and the Nobel Chamber.
The Nobel Garden presents all the Peace Prize laureates on its screens, surrounded by thousands of small candles. Inside the Nobel Chamber, you will have the opportunity to see the Nobel world with your own eyes.
In the installation of Peace Prize laureates you will find photographs, texts and videos about the life and work of all Peace Prize laureates. There are more than 2,800 articles and more than 1,500 images, videos and animations about the century’s winners, from Martin Luther King to the Dalai Lama.
