35 kilometers from Malmö is Trelleborg, the southernmost city in Sweden, first mentioned in 1257. However, before that it was already known as one of the circular Viking fortresses – this form was characteristic exclusively of Danish fortifications.

Start your trip by visiting the main attraction of the city – the Church of St. Nicholas. It was built at the end of the 19th century by the architect Helgo Zetterwall on the site of a previous medieval church.

During the tour you will also visit the medieval city center and the Old Square, you will see the Town Hall, the old water pump tower, which was built in 1911.

Trelleborg hosts the so-called Michaelmas Fair (renamed the Palm Festival in 2005), with dancing, singing and competitions. It was decided to decorate the festival with palm trees in 1984, and since then they have stood on the main street of the city, moving from it to greenhouses only in winter. The festival takes place on the last weekend of August.
